PMP Study Plan: How to Prepare in 8 Weeks (2026 ECO)

By 3FOLD Training··11 min read

Quick answer

Study for 1.5–2 hours per day over 8 weeks after completing your training. Cover People (week 1), Process (weeks 2–3), Agile/Hybrid (week 4), Business Environment (week 5), then intensive mock exam review (weeks 6–8). Take your first full mock exam in week 5 — not at the end.

Before you start: what you need in place

This plan assumes you have completed your 35-hour training. Without training, you are studying without a map — reading PMBOK 8th Edition cover-to-cover is not the same as structured instruction. Once training is done, this 8-week plan bridges the gap between course completion and exam day.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours a day should I study for PMP?

1.5–2.5 hours per day is realistic for most working professionals. Consistent daily study is more effective than weekend-only cramming.

How long does it take to prepare for the PMP?

8–12 weeks after completing your training is typical. Candidates who rush to the exam in under 4 weeks after training tend to underperform — the exam rewards depth of understanding, not speed.
